With the cost of living crisis and inflation rates the way they are right now, you may feel your pockets are being pinched and your budget is stretched further than ever, especially when it comes to the food shop.
I hear you! It's wild out there!
Now we all know that we all have to eat, and that's why I try to maximise every penny I can when it comes to my food shop budget.
One upside of the food shop costing more, is that any cashback you can earn will also increase!
(I have to try and look for silver linings even if it is a drop in the ocean, but small amounts add up!)
This week I tripled my savings on the food shop via cashback savings, and this post is here to tell you how so that you can too!
Note - this post contains #AD/referrals. I only refer schemes that I personally use to maximise my own finances and do not share products I don't use myself.
For reference, my total shop for the week was £84.52 and I ordered this online via Sainsbury's.
Firstly, I went on to the Sprive app and ordered a £50 Sainsbury's voucher, getting me 3% cashback.
Sprive is an app which allows you to get cash back towards your mortgage when you shop via the app, enabling you to overpay your mortgage from money you were going to spend anyway!
Clearing our mortgage as quickly as possible is something that's really important to me so I love that Sprive lets you do this from cashback!

I made £1.50 cashback from the voucher for my shop this week which went straight to my mortgage!
Next up is Airtime Rewards.
I use Airtime Rewards, which is a cash back app that directly links to your bank card. Therefore, any eligible spending automatically comes through into your app as cash back which can then be deducted from your mobile bill.
Since using Airtime rewards I have saved over £300 from my phone bill for purchases I was already making!

I received £0.69 back on Airtime Rewards for the food shop I ordered this week.
Finally, my Cheddar rewards. Cheddar is similar to Airtime Rewards and also offers cashback on purchases and is directly linked to your bank account.
Another automatic cashback for doing shopping you usually would! I love letting these amounts tick away in the background from my usual spending.
You can cash out straight to your bank account when you hit £5 cash back saved, if you're interested in Cheddar, use code SASSYGF & click here
I received £0.35 cashback on Cheddar for this week's shop!
Of course, I also used my nectar card when making my purchase for the shop, and due to various nectar offers my total nectar points earned came to a value of £2.09.
These amounts may all seem small, but over the course of a year if every week my spending was similar, I would have over £130 in cash back and over £108 in Nectar points just from my food shop alone, and I'm certainly not about to say no to that!
